Sew Excited

Hopefully I will be blessed with the opportunity to purchase a sewing machine. I'm currently taking a sewing class and absolutely love it. For all of you that don't know, or can't keep track of my ever-changing majors, I'm graduating in April 11' as an SFL-Fashion Design major. I only have 7 more classes to take before I graduate, and 6 of them are going to be sewing/design related classes. So this summer, my plan is to make a few new things and to improve my skills. If all goes as planned, next winter I'll be doing an internship with Shade, Anthropologie or Shabby Apple, and then right after graduation, I'll be going to New York to meet with designers, marketers and vendors. Its going to be awesome!

Here are some of the things I'm going to be making (with variations on fabric & length)

I literally beat the heck out of it...

For our wedding we received a nice hand mixer, however, in all my wisdom and glory, I was making cinnamon rolls and decided to use it to mix the dough. Two words: bad idea. Not only did I break the thing, but smoke and an awful electrical smell started seeping out from within. Tragic, I know, but hey, the cinnamon rolls were delicious!

Just last week, with the help of my mom, I bought a new hand mixer (KitchenAid Architect Series). It's pretty much amazing. Someday I'll buy a stand mixer, (and yes Grandma, I still have that money set aside for it :D), but for now this one is the perfect size.

I also found some really cute cookie cutters at Bed, Bath & Beyond. I haven't had a whole lot of time to sit around and bake, but maybe when we get back from our trip I can start up again.

Thanks mom. Love you!
