Welcome to Life Made Simple! I’m Natalie, the baker, writer, and photographer behind this blog. I believe that time spent in the kitchen should be fun and stress-free and that baking should be a piece of cake!
Upon returning to Utah I started working at Sur La Table and put blogging to the side. In my time there I gained a great deal of knowledge about food and cooking/baking. It has influenced the way I approach recipes and has taught me how to be innovative and inspired. I try to share all of the tips and tricks I’ve learned with you throughout my posts and in my recipes. Again, I’m self-taught, so please don’t get bent out of shape if what I’m saying isn’t what you’ve grown up doing! These are merely suggestions :)
As you can probably tell, most of my recipes are quick and easy. I tend to favor using ingredients that you’d most likely have in your pantry or fridge. I know from experience that there’s nothing more stressful and inconvenient then having to run to the store to spend more money on one-time use ingredients! I’m all about desserts that are unique, approachable and budget friendly, ones that will make your life simple!
I grew up in a small town in northern California where I spent a lot of time learning to cook and bake from my mom. I became even more passionate for food after enrolling in culinary arts classes during high school. Upon graduating, I moved to Provo, UT to attend college at Brigham Young University. I earned a bachelors degree with an emphasis in clothing construction and eventually met my wonderful husband Stephen. We married shortly after meeting and life has never been better!
We now spend most of our time entertaining the newest addition to our family, he definitely keeps us on our toes! While Stephen is away at school, I use naptime to bake and blog. It’s been quite an undertaking! When we’re not busy a home, we like to get out and spend time hiking around in the canyons, playing soccer and going to the movies. We’re pretty big on chocolate and cheesecake. I’m a self-professed peanut butter lover and have a fondness for anything that involves pumpkin, cookie dough, or sprinkles. He loves brownies and that’s perfectly fine with me.
